A Lexi task that looks stuck is most often waiting for your approval, out of credits or switched off. Open Lexi and choose the **Tasks** tab to see which.

1. Open **Lexi** from the left rail.
2. Choose **Tasks**. The filters are **All tasks**, **Running**, **Needs approval**, **Scheduled** and **Completed**.
3. Find the task and read its status.

## What the statuses mean

| Status | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Needs approval | Lexi stopped to ask you | Choose **Approve** or **Dismiss** on the card. |
| Queued, Approved | Waiting its turn | Give it a moment. |
| Running | In progress | Wait, or ask Lexi for an update. |
| Done | Finished | Check the result. |
| Failed | Something went wrong | Ask Lexi again, in a smaller step. |
| Cancelled, Expired | Stopped or timed out | Ask again if you still need it. |

## Error messages in chat

- "I'm having trouble connecting right now. Please try again!" Wait a moment and send the message again.
- "I'm getting too many requests. Please wait a moment and try again!" Slow down and retry.

## Other causes

- **Credits are out.** The **AI Credits Needed** window appears. See [Out of credits](/help/troubleshooting/out-of-credits).
- **Lexi is disabled.** An admin may have chosen **Disable Lexi** under **Settings → Lexi AI**.
- **Autonomy is set to Ask first.** **Ask first** confirms before changing any data, **Balanced** confirms risky changes and **Autopilot** works without asking, so with **Ask first** a task can wait for you. Admins change this under **Autonomy** in the **Tasks** tab.

## What happens next

Try the same request again with one clear step. See [Lexi prompt tips](/help/lexi-and-channels/lexi-prompt-tips).
