Most import errors come from the file type, a missing name column or a column mapped to the wrong field. LeadLex accepts CSV, XLSX and XLS files for contacts. Start the import under **Network → Add Contact → Import CSV**.

## Messages and fixes

| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Unsupported file type. Please upload a CSV, XLSX, or XLS file. | Save the file in one of those formats. |
| No contacts to import / No valid contacts to import | Map at least a name column (**Full Name**, **First Name** or **Last Name**) or an **Email** column. |
| *N* contacts have phone numbers in the Company field. Please check your column mapping. | Go back to **Map Fields** and fix the **Maps To** column. |
| *N* contacts had errors | The rest were imported. Fix the failing rows and import them again. |
| Import failed: no contacts could be saved. Please check your CSV format and try again. | Open the file, check the header row and try again. |
| Import timed out: The file may be too large. Try splitting it into smaller batches. | Split the file into smaller files. |
| Contacts imported, but adding them to the list failed. | Use **Add to List** from your network page. |

## Before you retry

1. Check the **Maps To** column on **Map Fields**. Choose **Don't Import** for columns you do not need.
2. Remove blank rows at the end of the sheet.
3. Import a sample of 10 rows first.

## Updating instead of adding

To change contacts you already have, map a column to **Contact ID (for updates)**.

## What happens next

If the import finds likely duplicates, LeadLex shows a **Review** button and sends **Review duplicates**.
