Everything in LeadLex hangs off two records. A **contact** is a person. A **company** is the organisation they work for. Deals, tasks, notes, meetings and emails attach to one or both, so the history of a client stays in one place.

Both live under **Network** in the left rail. It has three tabs: **Contacts**, **Companies** and **Lists**.

## Add a contact

1. Open **Network** and choose **Add Contact**.
2. Pick **Add Manually**, **Import from Email**, **Scan Business Card** or **Import CSV**. If your mailbox is not connected yet, the email option reads **Connect Email to Import**.
3. For **Add Manually**, fill in the form titled **Add New Contact**. **First Name** and **Last Name** are required. You can also add job title, company, email, phone, LinkedIn URL, address, notes, priority, relationship type, client status, tags and practice areas.
4. Choose **Save Contact**.

For files and HubSpot, see [Import contacts and companies](/help/getting-started/import-contacts-and-companies).

## Add a company

1. Open **Network** and select the **Companies** tab.
2. Choose **Add Company**.

You rarely need to. When a contact has a work email address, LeadLex links them to the company for that domain and creates it if it does not exist. Free mail addresses such as gmail.com are ignored.

## What a contact record shows

Open a contact to see a header with quick actions (**Email**, **Call**, **Schedule**, **Note**, **Task**) and a band that summarises **Follow-up**, **Relationship**, **Last interaction**, **Activity (30d)** and **Open pipeline**. Below it are tabs:

- **Overview**, **Activity** and **Notes**
- **Deals** and **Tasks**
- **Meetings**, **Emails** and **Documents**
- **Network** for mutual connections, **Events** and **Lists**

In the header you can set the relationship type (for example **Prospect**, **Client**, **Lead**, **Partner** or **Referral**), the **Priority** (**High**, **Medium**, **Low**) and the client status (**Active**, **Lead**, **Inactive**, **Dormant**).

A contact marked **Private** is visible only to you. Imports are private by default.

## What a company record shows

A company has tabs for **Overview**, **Activity**, **Deals**, **Tasks**, **Notes**, **Meetings**, **IP Portfolio**, **Documents**, **Ecosystem**, **Origination**, **Legal insights** and **Revenue**. The header has **Add deal**, **Schedule**, **Add task** and **Add note**. Revenue is visible to admins only.

## Find and organise your network

In the contacts table, use the search box, **Filters**, **Sort** and **Columns** to see what matters. Columns include **Owner**, **Last contact**, **Follow-up**, **Tags**, **Priority** and many more. Select rows to get a bar of bulk actions: **Add to list**, **Assign**, **Enrich**, **Export** and **Delete**, plus tagging and priority.

**Enrich** asks Lexi to fill in missing details. Suggestions wait for your approval, and nothing on a contact changes until you accept it. Open the **Review** notification to go through them.

## Merge duplicates

After an import, or when LeadLex spots likely duplicates, you get a **Review duplicates** notification. Open it, then choose **Merge…** on a group to combine the records. A merge can be undone, and the contacts come back.

## What happens next

Add a deal for a company, or create a [list](/help/crm-basics/lists-and-tags) of everyone you want to follow up with this month.
