LeadLex has two roles you can give people: **Member** and **Admin**. Members do the day-to-day work with contacts, companies, deals, tasks and Lexi; admins can do all of that and also manage people, billing, API keys, data export and workspace-wide settings.

Every workspace keeps at least one admin. You choose the role when you invite someone, and an admin can change it later on the Team page.

## What each role can do

| | Member | Admin |
|---|---|---|
| Create, edit and delete contacts, companies, deals and tasks | Yes | Yes |
| Merge duplicate contacts | Yes | Yes |
| Chat with Lexi and use its skills | Yes | Yes |
| Personal settings: Profile, Email & Calendar, Notifications, own 2FA | Yes | Yes |
| Invite people, change roles, remove members | No | Yes |
| **Billing & Usage** | No | Yes |
| **API & Data**: API keys, import and export of workspace data | No | Yes |
| **Task rules** | No | Yes |
| Turn Lexi on or off, switch skills, set Lexi's autonomy | No | Yes |
| Edit the Firm Profile and the **Privacy & Sharing** defaults | No | Yes |
| Connect workspace-wide integrations such as Slack, Teams and HubSpot | No | Yes |
| Workspace Security, SSO, Activity Log and Data Retention | No | Yes |
| Erase a contact's personal data (GDPR) | No | Yes |
| Delete several companies at once from Network | No | Yes |
| See contacts archived under a retention rule | No | Yes |

When a member opens a settings page that is for admins, LeadLex shows **Only workspace admins can view this**.

## Change someone's role

1. Open **Settings** and choose **Team**.
2. Under **Team Members**, find the person.
3. Use the role menu on their row and pick **Member** or **Admin**.

You cannot change your own role from this list. If you are the last admin, LeadLex stops you with "You cannot remove the last admin. Transfer ownership first or promote another user to admin."

## Hand admin rights to someone else

Use this when the person who set up LeadLex is moving on.

1. Open **Settings → Team** and scroll to **Company Settings**.
2. Under **Transfer Ownership**, choose **Transfer Ownership**.
3. Pick the colleague in **New Admin** and confirm.

The colleague becomes an admin and you become a member. The card text says you become a "manager"; in practice your role is **Member**.

## Remove someone from the workspace

1. Open **Settings → Team**.
2. Choose the remove icon on the person's row.
3. In **Remove Team Member?**, choose **Remove Member**.

The person loses access straight away. Their LeadLex login is kept, so you can invite them back later. The records they created stay in the workspace with their name shown as a former member. You cannot remove yourself; transfer ownership first.

## There is no read-only role

Every person is either a **Member** or an **Admin**. LeadLex has no read-only role today. An account that was created with the older **Viewer** role shows **Viewer (not enforced)** in the role menu, and it can do what a member can do. If you need someone to see data without changing it, do not give them a LeadLex login. Share an export instead; see [Export your data to CSV](/help/account/export-your-data).

## What happens next

Invite the rest of your team with the role each person needs. See [Create your workspace and invite your team](/help/getting-started/create-workspace-and-invite-team).
